(or BCT) is a hi-tech enterprise mainly engaged in technology development and manufacturing and marking crystal materials, which are used in the fields of optical fiber communications, mobile communications and display technology. BCT has a competitive technical force and development team supported by a CAS academician and national level experts in the fields of crystal materials. BCT has earned many state scientific awards and the products are sold to Europe, America, Japan Israel and etc.
At the time of approaching in New Year 2007, the journalist of 《Laser Technology & Application》(be called journalist as following) is lucky to have a interview with the President, Mr. Wang-zhong(be called Mr. Wang as following) of BCT.

Journalist: Nice to meet you, Mr. Wang. I’m glad to get a chance to interview you. Could you please to introduce the development of your company?

Mr. Wang: Welcome to Brightcrystals Technology, INC., I am glad to accept your interview too. BCT founded on January 18, 2001, is hi-tech enterprise jointly established by China Synthetic Crystal Research Institute, Beixin Construction Materials Stock Ltd., Fund Management Center of Middle and Small Enterprise Technical Innovation Foundation under the Ministry of Science and Technology. Our company has made great achievements in the products and scientific research for 6 years. Our products can satisfy the consumer’s needs not only in China, but also in oversea market. Especially some products of BCT are only supplier for customers in the world; In the scientific research field, BCT has taken more than 31 items, which came from the state and commissions with the general amount of money exceeds 37 million yuan. So BCT has made contribution for Chinese crystal field.

Journalist: Which main products do your company has? And how about the characteristics and their applications?

Mr. Wang: A lot of company in crystal industry in China has only one kind of product, but BCT’s products include 4 kinds as following: optical crystal quartz, laser and nonlinear crystals, UV and IR grade optical crystals and transparent polycrystalline Spinel. BCT manufactures and markets varieties of photoelectric crystals widely. The main distinction between our company and others in China is that our products have preponderance on quality and technology. For example: high quality KTP crystal suits for PPKTP substrate specially; RTP crystal has high extinction and contrast ratio, and suits for high pulsed Q-switching; high transmittance in DUV for large size MgF2 single crystal; large size and low inclusions for optical crystal quartz, which take domestic market; Chinese patent: transparent polycrystalline Spinel, is high technology preponderance, good capability and low price, and the sale of Spinel increases very quickly.

Journalist: What do you think about the development prospect of the Optical & Electronic trade in China?

Wang: I think the prospect is very bright. As a whole, the Optical & Electronic Technology in China is not as good as in western countries. But with the entrance of WTO, the connection in science and technology between China and the world is more than ever, which promote progress of the Chinese technology and application. China has the biggest market in the world, and has the advantage in process cost. The Chinese Optical & Electronic trade will improve very fast in near future.

Journalist: For Chinese companies, there are both chance and challenge after the entrance of WTO. Facing the more and more competition in China, what will Bright Crystals do?

Wang: We have two main conduct considerations, thoughts and innovation in technology. For thoughts, we take steps on many kinds of developments. BCT has four different kind of products, and we take steps on different ways of development according to the specifications of the products. One way is to expand the production, depend on adding equipments, at the same time, to improve the quality and append of the products. Another way is to forward by the mode of extend the chain of estate. That is to say, we not only produce the crystal materials, but also develop the elements made by the crystal materials. In order not to affect the customers who use our crystals already, we pay many attentions to the difference of development. We do not produce the similar elements with our big customers, only develop new products ourselves. Innovation in technology is under the support of the state science program, on one hand we try to meet the requirement of high quality、nicety and tip, on the other hand we make schemes for the production structure for 5~10 years in future, doing the corresponding development of new products and reserve of technology, to make sure our competition advantage in future.

Journalist: The last question, what is the plan for the market and the next development aim of BCT?

Wang: We want to build a market team with professional specialists and advisers. We not only sale the products, but also provide the best resolve project for the customers. We are trying to improve the quality of our products and technologies in the next five years, to make our company bigger and stronger.
